How Do Volunteers Help Adults & Seniors with Disabilities at NCSI?
We are seeking volunteers for one-time and long-term opportunities to support the people we serve. Volunteers are welcome anytime Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at our location in Roseville and in our local community, Here are the types of opportunities that are available:
Activity Assistant - Participate in and help NCSI staff facilitate group activities such as crafts, nature and gardening, cooking, math, reading and writing, music, games, exercise, self-advocacy, science, stress reduction, and team-building.
Talent Share - Share your skill/hobby/interest with a group of program participants–playing an instrument, singing, storytelling, dancing, creative arts, sports, history, career or travel experiences, or any other talent you can bring!
Animal Therapy - See the smiles and love when you bring in your certified animal to visit with the people we serve.
Community Outings - Assist staff and program participants on community outings–push a wheelchair, offer companionship and conversation, assist with lunch and loading/unloading vehicles, and provide general support and supervision to help everyone stay safe and have fun.
Job Coach - Provide on-the-job training and/or coaching to the people we serve at their community employment sites. People typically work individually or in small job crews of two or three. Empower them to exhibit as much independence as possible with their work tasks, maintain positive social interactions, and achieve their career goals.
Floater - Do you have a full day (6 hours) every week or so? Join us as a "float" volunteer, and we'll work with you to customize a schedule that suits your interests and enriches the lives of program participants.
